In October 2015 I paid my first visit to The Froize, a restaurant well known for its delicious food and about to become known as a unique venue for international folk acts. Once a month staff at The Froize would convert the dining room into an auditorium seating a little over seventy people including a small, raised stage, lighting and sound equipment.

The format, an opening act followed by the headliner, included an intermission during which ‘Suffolk Tapas’ was served – a selection of excellent Froize food.

Little did I know then that Folk at The Froize would become a regular event, nor that I was about to meet a host of new friends and re-acquaint myself with old ones.

Over time Froize events spilled out into the garden, to Wantisden Valley up the road, when occasions warranted it, and to Leiston Film Theatre. All featuring top class musicians and excellent food.

I watched Suffolk’s landscape change with the seasons as I made othe 70 mile round trip each month. In time I ended up staying to re-configure the auditorium into a restaurant and sitting in the bar chatting with friends and, on many an occasion, with the artists who had performed.

Life changes and I no longer make those monthly trips to relish in the intamacy of friendships, good music and good food. Folk at The Froize continues and you can find out all about the latest events here: Froize
